Outdoor advertising is one of the fastest developing media in the Asia Pacific region. Posters, once a neglected area, are now the focus of top creative talent. Outstanding and effective creative executions have enhanced buses, taxis and trains throughout the region.
More people are watching TV in malls, pubs and buses, making Out-of-Home a strong marketing medium. Even mobile telephones are becoming effective vehicles for interactive marketing.
The Singapore Outdoor Advertising Awards, now in its 8th year, has grown into the premier event for the outdoor medium, attracting entries from all around the region. Practically every major agency and media buying specialist enters the show each year. SOAA is recognised as one of the leading creative shows in the region. It is supported by the top outdoor media owners as well as professional organisations such as the Institute of Advertising Singapore and the Designers Association Singapore.
In 2005, we added the Exhibition Stand Design category in recognition of the importance that exhibitions play in this region and to give recognition to a group of designers who have hitherto been neglected. Also new was an award for the media planners and buyers whose contribution is often overlooked. In 2006 we introduced a new category 'Free Card', in view of the popularity of the postcard media. This year we have expanded Point of Purchase (POP) categories.
For great ideas for which have never actually made it into production, you might be eligible for the Gem Award. We, for the first time are inviting students to enter.
